Full of Grace – Rosary Meditation 24 May

24th May Rosary Meditation Full of Grace

The Church celebrates the feast of the Crowning of Mary in heaven seven days after the feast of the Assumption.
It’s as if we are giving her time to arrive there.
Tradition from the early middle ages takes up the idea of a Coronation from the culture of the time.
The most honoured persons in that culture were the King and Queen.
This idea was then transferred onto the arrival of Mary the Mother of God where she is crowned with honour and glory.

Today’s image is an icon of the Coronation of the virgin.
You can see that Mary is seated at the right hand of her Son.
It is He who places a crown on her head, this crown denotes that she is full of grace.
Mary is the one who always said Yes to God, and the one who now prays for us, this is denoted by how she holds here hands out in a gesture of praise and thanks.
With Jesus she is surrounded by the stars of heaven.
With her Son a new reign of love begins, and she reigns with Him in this new Kingdom of love.
We can imagine the angels sing the song Regina Coeli Laetare Alleluia!

As you meditate on this glorious mystery, I invite you to reach out to Mary and greet her with these words: ‘Full of grace’.
Ask her to help you get in touch with the gracious presence of God in your life.
Invite her to walk with you on your journey of faith and to help you recognise the grace filled moments of every day.
