What is the National Directory, Share the Good News?Share the Good News, was published in 2012 by the Irish Bishops Conference as a document to support discussion, education and action among all those in Catholic Church – parish, diocesan and national – for developing faith and faith community. In this task, schools, ecclesial movements and other initiatives support them. Share the Good News seeks to help adults to discuss, share and reflect upon their faith, and in doing so, deepen their own understanding and that of others around them. The Directory is a resource containing theological, scriptural and prayerful reflections. It identifies the challenges associated with social exclusion, ecology and the environment, and the diversity of cultures in Ireland today. Share the Good News reminds us that the mission to evangelise is never to be understood as a personal cause but is undertaken in the name of the Church and of Christ. As well as missionary evangelisation, there is a need for ongoing pastoral evangelisation within the Church itself. In this way, the freshness and vigor needed to proclaim the Gospel can be encouraged. The Directory brings the Gospel alive through engagement with, among other things:
- Local faith development needs
- Scripture, Sacraments and prayer
- The Beatitudes and life in Christ
- The Catechism of the Catholic Church
- Ecumenical and inter-religious dialogue
- Life-long learning.
